Jeppe Girls’ Class of 2021 scoops top awards

The class of 2021 maintained the 100% pass rate for the 28th year in succession and 91% of the girls received marks that allow them access to a bachelor’s degree.

Jeppe High School for Girls was awarded the trophy for Best Performing Public School in the Johannesburg East District at the ceremony held on February 11.

The class of 2021 maintained the 100% pass rate for the 28th year in succession and 91% of the girls received marks that allow them access to a bachelor’s degree.

“Once again our learners’ achievements’ echo the deep roar of our motto: that nothing is too difficult for the brave.

“Well done to each Jeppe girl who made it possible for our school to scoop the trophy for Best Performing Public School in another pandemic-ridden year. We are delighted,” said Dina Goncalves, Jeppe Girls principal.

Additionally, four matric learners won awards for best learner in their respective subjects.

Jamie Ho was honoured as the top English HL and top visual arts learner while Kayla Aurswald received the award for being the top consumer studies learner.

Erin Dodgen was awarded as the top music learner and Aimee van der Plank as the top design learner.

Six departments scooped the Best Department in the Johannesburg East District awards.

They were English HL, Afrikaans FAL, consumer studies, visual arts, music and design.
