Weekend crime round-up

The robbers ransacked the house and fled with a hunting rifle, two TVS, two cellphones, a laptop and jewellery.

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

• Friday – A house robbery was reported at an address along Smit Street in Oaklane Estates, Sherwood Gardens.
Three men, one of whom was armed with a gun and another with a knife, gained access to the home at around 03:00.

The three occupants of the home were awakened and told to co-operate.

The robbers ransacked the house and fled with a hunting rifle, two TVS, two cellphones, a laptop and jewellery.

* A man was robbed after being picked up by an e-hailing service driver in Tsakani.
The victim requested a ride to Germiston and was picked up by the driver of a white Toyota Yaris at 22:00.

There were two other men in the car, who, according to the driver, were going to be dropped off in Dalpark.

When they reached Rangeview Road, the driver and the other passengers threatened the victim with guns and demanded his belongings.

They took his cellphone and wallet, which contained cash and cards.

They used his phone to access his banking app and transferred money.

The robbers also stopped to withdraw cash from his account.

The victim was later released and a case of armed robbery is under investigation.

• Saturday – A shop in Craigholm Street, Dalview, was robbed just after 21:00 by two men.
The pair forced their way into the shop as a female staff member was letting out two other customers.

She was threatened at gunpoint and the robbers took her handbag and cellphone.

They also took cash from the office and then fled the scene.

• Sunday – A BMW 3 Series was stolen from Voortrekker Road.
