Aidan, a pitcher who also plays first base, took part in the trials on January 16 where he excelled.

Following the trials, baseball players from Gauteng’s A side are set to take to the diamonds in Cape Town when they compete in the National Baseball Championships.

The National Baseball Championships, which will see baseball players from across the country battle, are expected to be held in March.

As a baseball player, Aidan is comfortable on the field and can play any position except catcher.

Aidan’s dream is to one day be selected for the SA national baseball squad.

To achieve this, he will keep on working hard.

Aidan started playing sport at an early age. He was introduced to T-ball at school level when he was seven years old and quickly developed a love for the sport.

He received the award for the best T-baller overall for Grade One to Three.

At 10, Aidan started playing baseball at club level and received an award for the most promising player and second-best batter for the 2014 / 2015 season.

During the 2017 / 2018 season, Aidan received an award for the best fielder and was selected to represent Gauteng in the National Baseball Championships.

Unfortunately, Aidan could not compete in the championships that season because of a freak accident where he fell through a skylight on the first day of the tournament.

Aidan’s recovery took approximately three months, but this did not stop him from returning to baseball.

His recovery only made him more determined to achieve his goals.

In 2018, Aiden started playing softball at school level and was selected for Ekurhuleni schools softball to represent Gauteng East in the inter-regional school’s tournament in 2018/19.

In 2019, Aidan was selected to represent Gauteng in the National Baseball Championships and was selected for the SA Elite training squad.

His love and passion for the sport resulted in him assisting his club as a junior coach for its u-10 team the same year.

Aidan has also been selected for the u-15 All-Stars softball team.

In 2020, the All-Stars softball team toured Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.

Aidan is determined to achieve his dreams regardless of the challenges set before him.
