Fire ravages Fahrenheit Edenvale: No injuries reported, investigation underway – DEMS

City of Ekurhuleni’s Disasters and Emergency Management Services are yet to determine what caused the fire which burned down a portion of Fahrenheit Seafood and Grill on Terrace Road.

The spokesperson for the city’s DEMS William Ntladi said on February 3 a portion of the restaurant burnt down when a section of the buildings thatch roof caught alight.

 

While emergency services were on scene a section of Terrace Road was closed to motorists. Ntladi said, “there were some guests inside but the safety evacuations procedures were conducted accordingly and everyone is safe.”

Nlatdi said management services were impressed with the evacuation procedures of the restaurant.

He said there were no injuries or fatalities reported. 

Speaking on the fire Ntladi said the restaurant’s structure had firewalls which contributed to the containment of the fire.

“Only the thatch roof section was badly damaged the other section which has a corrugated roof is basically saved.” Ntladi said approximately 30 firefighters responded to the blaze.

A fleet of five fire engines which included three major pumps and two medium pumps were also on scene.

He said the responding firefighters were from Edenvale, Bedfordview, Primrose and Kempton Park fir stations.
