She was described as a dedicated and hard-working individual.

Thinika maintained a fine balance of academic, cultural and social activities during her matric year.

She managed to achieve excellent academic results and balance her cultural activities of public speaking, debating and speech and drama festivals as well as attaining a distinction in her Grade Eight Trinity Speech and Drama exams.

She spent about six hours a day studying but still managed to always get a good night’s sleep.

Thinika believed in maintaining a healthy diet and exercise routine to keep the stress levels at bay.

Aside from her matric studies, Thinika also found the time to run her own business selling cakes and cupcakes from her home bakery.

“It’s all about time management and enjoying, doing what you love, which kept me centred and focussed throughout the year.

“The only way to achieve success is through balance,” she said.

Thinika said did not let the Covid-19 pandemic deter her and she pursued her dream to achieve the best results, so she could study medicine this year at the University of the Witwatersrand (WITS).
