At the top of her list is the valuation roll.

“The disastrous document was at the forefront of problems in my ward in 2021. This year, I will continue my fight for residents,” she said.

Humphreys foresees that with the release of the objections outcomes will come its set of problems.

She added that residents who objected late would also have to wait for the supplementary valuation roll.
Heading into 2022, Humphreys hopes to shed more light on the ageing and rapidly failing infrastructure in Bedfordview.

“One of the main concerns going into 2022 is the desperate need for infrastructure upgrades.”

She said that last year’s power outage highlighted that Bedfordview only had one supply of power.

“There is no backup for the area and this is something that needs to be addressed.”

She added that while there are three lines in place for Bedfordview, only the new XLPE line was functioning.

“The other two are old oil lines. This is something that needs investigation.”

Humphreys added that while she is not opposed to developments in the area she would advocate for new infrastructure that could handle additional developments.

“Our sewage and water systems need to be upgraded urgently before any more developments are approved,” she said.

This year, Humphreys also hopes to drive initiatives that would curb illegal dumping and informal recycling sites in Bedfordview.

“If there is somewhere for recyclers to work from, it will greatly reduce the amount of illegal dumping and informal waste sorting sites in the area.”

She also hopes to see a rejuvenation of Gillooly’s Farm and other popular parks in the area.

“We need to take a serious look at bio-remediation in the area. If we can stop the problem at its source, which in this case is at the home, then we can look forward to better functioning sewage systems and ultimately cleaner water systems,” Humphreys said.

She has wished the residents of Ward 20 a prosperous 2022 and hopes that everyone would work together to make Bedfordview better.
