Deadline to remove political party posters looms

“From November 22, the city will remove the remaining elections posters.”

Political parties are reminded that they have until November 15 to remove their elections posters or risk being fined.

The duration for which election posters may be displayed is prescribed in Section 43(9) of Ekurhuleni Metropolitan

Municipality Billboard and Display of Advertisements By-Law (2017).

City of Ekurhuleni’ Spokesperson Zweli Dlamini said the by-laws indicate that the posters must be removed 14 days after the date of the elections.

“From November 22, the city will remove the remaining elections posters,” said Dlamini.

“The political parties whose posters are removed will be charged R55.50 per poster.”
