Watch: Vandalised valve chamber leads to dry taps in Germiston and Bedfordview

"The affected areas continue to experience low water pressure to no water. Restoration time has not yet been established."

The City of Ekurhuleni announced to residents in Germiston and Bedfordview that the prevailing water supply interruption which started yesterday morning continues.

“The affected areas continue to experience low water pressure to no water. Restoration time has not yet been established. The CoE has made provision for water tankers to assist affected communities,” said CoE spokesperson Zweli Dlamini.

“The vandalised valve chamber has affected various reservoirs namely Primrose Reservoir, Morningside Reservoir, and Russell Reservoir in Wadeville.

“Rand Water technical teams are working around the clock to repair the damages.”

The affected areas now include:

“Eight water tankers have been despatched and are feeding onto stationary tanks located at strategic positions. There are also roving water tankers to assist customers at these affected areas and customers are requested to be on the lookout for these,” said Dlamini.

An additional two water tankers have been dispatched and are located at Germiston Hospital and Primrose Hospital, respectively.
