In the process, they will also be able to grow their team of cleaners.

“Better Bedfordview strives to keep our area clean and to unite and uplift our community. Our clean-up team consists of previously unemployed men who sweep, tidy, weed, trim, paint, prune, plant, pave and pick up litter; working hard to keep our area beautiful, clean and neat, despite poor municipal service delivery.

“Better Bedfordview depends on funding and support from residents and businesses and voluntary donations from our RAG members. With more support, we can do more, from more clean-up projects and community improvement initiatives to growing our clean-up team.

“Please enter this fun 5km community walk/run and help Better Bedfordview to do more for our community.

“We are thankful for this wonderful fundraising opportunity afforded by Bedfordview Athletics Club, and I hope that everyone who cares about our area and our community will enter the 5km Boroughs of Bedfordview event to support RAG’s Better Bedfordview initiative,” Constas said.

The entry fee for the Boroughs of Bedfordview 5km event is R60, which includes a goodie bag.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions and considerations, this is a hybrid event and there are options for everyone.

Residents can either do the defined route or any other 5km route of their choice over the three days.

The defined route will start and finish at the Bedfordview Country Club (Virgin Active) grounds in Bedfordview.

Those who prefer to do their own 5km route, can submit their time through a link that will be supplied.
