Jardine’s case withdrawn pending further investigation

In light of Dr Ivan Jardine’s case being withdrawn from court, the National Prosecuting Authority informed the NEWS the case was provisionally withdrawn pending further investigation.
Jardine was arrested on July 16 at 22:00 between Park Meadows and Eastgate Shopping Centre for breaking lockdown curfew.
He was stopped by officers while on his way home from tending to a patient.

His first court appearance was on July 19 at Edenvale Magistrate’s Court; however, the case was postponed to August 5.
During his second court appearance, the matter was withdrawn.
“The SAPS was requested to advance clarity on certain issues raised in the written version presented to the prosecution,” said NPA spokesperson Phindi Louw Mjonondwane.
