Time to celebrate the warmer weather

The koppies have a rich archaeological history and has been occupied at different times over the last 50 000 years.

It’s time to venture out and celebrate that the third wave curve in Gauteng continues on a downward trajectory.
The days are getting longer and warmer and winter seems to have left for another year.
What better way than to visit Melville Koppies Central (Nature Reserve and Heritage Site).
The koppies have a rich archaeological history and have been occupied at different times over the last 50 000 years.
The recently planned burn on some parts of the koppies has once more exposed the stone walls of the homesteads of the early farmers that settled from about the 1200s.
Visit soon and see if you can spot the remains of the walls before the grass grows back and conceals the treasures that lie beneath it.
Melville Koppies Central (Nature Reserve and Heritage Site) is open every Sunday from 08:00 to 11:30.
There is no need to pre-book. Entry fees are set at R80 for adults and R40 for children.
Season tickets are also available for purchase at a cost of R500.
All income from the sale of tickets is used for maintenance and security of the koppies, which amount to R22 000 per month.
Visitors are asked to park in secure parking opposite the entrance at Marks Park in Judith Road, Emmarentia.
