Rovers and community come together to help SPCA

In total, three truckloads of supplies and donations were collected.

Bedfordview and Village Rover Crews hosted a donation drive for Bedfordview and Germiston SPCA following two incidents of theft at the SPCA on July 11.

The rover crews received donations from far and wide with assistance from other crews and the community.

Residents of the greater-Bedfordview area donated pet food, blankets, toys and other items like printers while residents of the Oppibult Complex in Faerie Glen, Pretoria, donated a trailer load of supplies.

The Orion Rover Crew on the West Rand collected a bakkie-load of donations in the Roodepoort area.

In total, three truckloads of supplies and donations were collected.

The SPCA advised the rovers that any donations which cannot be used at the SPCA will be distributed to other branches, specifically those in KwaZulu-Natal.

Community members who were unable to donate items but would like to contribute to Bedfordview and Germiston SPCA can make a monetary donation to it.

Donations can be made to First National Bank, account number 5111 271 6150, branch Eastgate (250 655).

Community members under 30 years old and interested in making a difference are invited to become rovers or join one of the other branches of Scouts South Africa.

Troops in the greater Bedfordview area cater for children as young as five years old to young adults up to the age of 30.
