Police officers and other law enforcement agencies in Ekurhuleni arrested 142 suspects in Ekurhuleni District Zone 1 during recent police operations.
Ekurhuleni District Zone 1 includes Thembisa, Thembisa South, Ivory Park, Rabie Ridge, Olifantsfontein, Norkem Park, Sebenza, Kempton Park and Edenvale police stations.

The arrests included 42 for the contravention of Disaster management Act, 23 were nabbed during high-density operations in Thembisa, 17 for assault, 10 for theft, nine for robbery and seven for malicious damage to property.
“The arrests were affected as a result of high visibility in the hot spots, enforcement of Disaster Management Act as well as the enforcement of Liquor and Drug act,” said Capt Nelda Sekgobela, Ekurhuleni District communications officer.
