Three St Andrew’s owls released

In the early hours of June 30, the three Barn Owlets at St Andrew’s School for Girls were released from their pen.

In the early hours of June 30, the three barn owlets at St Andrew’s School for Girls were released from their pen.

As soon as it started getting light, one by one the owls flew out.

They have been fed each day in their pen at the school for just over three weeks.

Feeding will continue post-release as it mimics natural parental care.

These owls can now hone their flying and hunting skills.

Staff and learners at the school have enjoyed seeing the owls every day since their arrival.

The school thanked EcoSolutions for the opportunity to house and release the owls.

Everyone at the school hopes the owls will stay close by or nest in one of the owl houses on the premises to enable regular sightings of them.
