CoE to prioritise power outages over street lights in level four

“Street lights will not be prioritised due to the limited number of personnel during this period.”

With the re-implementation of lockdown level four, the City of Ekurhuleni Energy Department will prioritise power outage complaints over non-functioning street lights.

CoE spokesperson Zweli Dlamini said following the stricter regulations, the city like other businesses was forced to reduce its staff compliments in departments for the time being.

Dlamini said the department will strive to attend to 90% of outage complaints within 48 hours and the rest within a reasonable time.

“Street lights will not be prioritised due to the limited number of personnel during this period.”

Dlamini said only non-functioning street lights located along main roads and those that were reported before the onset of lockdown level four will be prioritised.

“Customers are encouraged to still log street light-related queries at the call centre or via the My CoE App,” said Dlamini.
