Seven suspects arrested during operation in Kempton Park

In total, 15 liquor outlets were searched, 498 vehicles searched and 651 people were searched among others.

Law enforcement agencies took to the streets of Kempton Park for another instalment of operation O Kae Molao last Thursday.

Different forces such as Gauteng Traffic, different policing units, CPF, VCIU and crime intelligence gathered for the operation.

“There were various roadblocks, liquor outlets were visited and shops were checked to see whether they were complying with the second-hand goods act,” said Sgt Dipuo Ditshego, spokesperson for Kempton Park SAPS.

“All the streets were painted with blue and brown colour as officers patrolled the area conducting random stop-and-searches.

“During the roadblock thirty traffic fines were issued to the value of R12 000, and a non-compliance fine valued at R1 000 was issued.

“Seven suspects were arrested on various charges including robbery, common assault, dealing in dagga, possession of drugs and possession of suspected stolen property.”
Ditshego added that there were items that were seized during the operation.

“Items seized include dagga weighing 257.9g, crystal meth weighing 6.8g, alcohol, cellphone, laptop, cash and two suspected stolen motor vehicles with one engine number tempered with,” explained Ditshego.

“Fifteen liquor outlets were searched, 498 vehicles search and 651 people were searched.

“Kempton Park SAPS acting station commander, Col Lesetja Manewa, was impressed with the arrests during the operation, however, he was expecting recovery of firearm/s since robberies around the policing area are firearm-related.”
