Eskom and the City of Ekurhuleni reached an agreement on the implementation of loadshedding on behalf of the municipality.
Eskom issued a statement today that on numerous occasions it requested the City of Ekurhuleni to rectify the violation of its loadshedding requirements following the parties’ electricity supply agreement.

“It has yielded very little success, with the municipality continuously failing to implement the required loadshedding in its areas of supply,” said Ronel Kotze from Eskom.
“In compliance with Nersa requirements, since Monday, May 31, Eskom has reduced the required load from the City of Ekurhuleni’s respective points of supply. Yesterday, the CoE acknowledged that they were unable to implement loadshedding as required.
“Consequently, and as an interim measure, the CoE requested Eskom, which has agreed, to continue implementing loadshedding in the city’s licensed area of supply. The CoE further agreed to communicate this arrangement with Eskom to the municipality’s customers, and to publish the revised loadshedding schedules.
“Customers from the City of Ekurhuleni are urged to contact the municipality directly regarding this matter,” said Kotze.
Germiston North’s substations or feeders affected since May 31 include Activia Park, Barvallen, Dawnview, Delmore (Ulana Park), Dukathole, Fishers Hill, Gerdview, Henville, Homestead, Knights, Marlands, Meadowbrook, Rustivia, South Germiston, Synnyridge, Sunnyrock, Symhurst, Wannenburg, Wannenburg Hoogte, Wilbart, Witfield and Woodmere.
