ABC Ladies Club celebrates motherhood

Club members who attended the meeting at the Giglio Boutique Hotel and Restaurant in Bedfordview were treated to a morning of inspirational talks and laughs.

Moms were centre stage at the May meeting of the ABC Ladies Club recently.

Club members who attended the meeting at the Giglio Boutique Hotel and Restaurant in Bedfordview were treated to a morning of inspirational talks and laughs.

The club’s founder, Anneliese Plettenbacher, said although the March meeting had been cancelled following a Covid-19 scare, the club members still raised R1 750 for a soup kitchen supported by the club.

Additionally, 24 brand new tracksuits were donated to children at Jan Hofmeyer.

Nita Fourie from the Purple Posy in Pretoria was the guest speaker for the morning. She reminded those in attendance that while there are so many things to worry about, the focus should be placed on positivity.

“Find something every day that you can celebrate,” she said.

Denise Eyssel was the second speaker for the day, and she highlighted the need for greater support of the South African Guide Dog Association.

She said that from birth to placement, the costs for training a guide or service dog can reach R500 000.

“In 2020, the organisation cancelled all of its regular fund-raising initiatives,” she said.

Eyssel added that joining the association has given her a positive way to give back.

The next meeting of the ABC Ladies Club will take place on June 17 at Gildas Boutique in Bedford Centre.

On the day, those attending can look forward to a 60 per cent discount on fashion, as Gilda prepares to close her store.
