Edenvale law enforcement nabs two suspects

"The driver of the vehicle came to the stop sign, noticed that there was a heavy law enforcement presence in his way and decided to make a U-turn."

The combined efforts of law enforcement in Edenvale led to the arrest of two suspects. Edenvale SAPS spokesperson Sgt Jacob Mashile said the men were arrested on charges related to a residential burglary.

The arrests were made during Operation Okae Molao on May 6. The operation saw SAPS members, security personal and Edenvale CPF members join forces.

“The suspects were found to in possession of house break-in implements,” said Mashile. Following further investigation, police learnt that the suspect’s vehicle had been used in other robberies in Edenvale. Mashile said while members were doing vehicle checks on Elm Street during the second phase of the operation, the suspects attempted to evade the authorities.

“The driver of the vehicle came to the stop sign, noticed that there was a heavy law enforcement presence in his way and decided to make a U-turn,” explained Mashile. “Unfortunately for the suspects our members were alert so they managed to stop the driver.”

The equipment was found during a search.

“The men were taken to Edenvale Police Station and will face their charges at Edenvale Magistrate’s Court.”

Management of Edenvale SAPS applauded everyone involved in the arrest. Mashile encouraged security companies to join the police in future operations to create a safer community.

“Together we can do more, alone we can do nothing.”
