CoE has enough water supply-Shabangu

The City of Ekurhuleni stated it has sufficient water storage capacity from its bulk water supplier to see residents and businesses through intermittent water supply periods.

“The city’s vision to have 1 371 megalitres of water stored when it completes construction of 29 additional reservoirs and water towers will soon be realised,” said CoE spokesperson Zweli Dlamini.

“The additional megalitres of water storage will translate to approximately 12 hours of extra storage capacity, taking the total storage capacity to 36 hours in this city. “This means that the metro will be able to supply water for over a day in case the supply from the bulk supplier is stopped, a disaster strikes or for any other reason. “Water consumers are advised to remain calm amidst reports of large-scale water supply interruptions due to potential strike action by workers at Rand Water,” said the head of the department for water and sanitation, Mduduzi Shabangu.
