RC drifters practise in Edenvale

The idea to create a dedicated RC drift circuit in Edenvale stemmed from the lack of one in the Johannesburg region.

Several remote control car enthusiasts were spotted at Edenvale’s Remote Control (RC) Drift Circuit where they were practising with their model vehicles.

Richard Shih, one of the founders of the concept, told the NEWS in 2019 that the idea to create a dedicated RC Drift Circuit in Edenvale stemmed from the lack of one in the Johannesburg region.

It was founded by Shih Kevin Scrooby and Quinten du Preez. They then approached Edenvale Bowling Club and after the idea was proposed, discussed and planned, it was time to find sponsors.

All in all, the track surface took four months to build while the layout and addition of barriers took another two months. It was opened at the start of 2018.
