In the hopes of deterring Egyptian geese from making Rand Aid’s Thornhill Manor Retirement Village’s swimming pool their home, residents came up with an innovative solution.

The solution saw the village attach plastic imitation owls, with moving eyes and heads, to the swimming pool’s fence. It was suggested by resident Jenny Brownson with the hopes of ensuring swimmers and the water aerobics class can enjoy and use the pool safely.

Since the owls were installed they have proven to be a success.
