Capt Jethro Mtshali, chief spokesperson for Kempton Park SAPS, confirmed the incident of an attempted hijacking.
He said the armed suspect was gunned down by the driver of the Subaru in act of self defense.

The scene caused traffic delays on the Barbara Road onramp onto the R24 West towards Edenvale as multiple reactionary services attended the scene.
No further injuries were recorded and no arrests were made.
