Community member, hairstylist and now nature enthusiast Derrick “More Fire” Tompson is continuing his mission to improve Protea Park one day at a time.
The Seventh Avenue resident and a group of community members recently visited the park where they cleared a portion of the park of litter.
Derrick said the clean-up went well and the group of volunteers received donations of black refuse bags and gloves from the community.

“The donations will allow us to continue doing our work in the park.”
Derrick said he hopes to have a big clean-up on February 21. Community members can meet at the entrance on First Avenue.
