Germiston Bedfordview SPCA released an appeal for donations.

The Germiston and Bedfordview SPCA is on a mission to prevent animal cruelty. The SPCA released an appeal for donations to enable the society to continue educating community members about animals and protecting them.

“This helps to lessen instances of animal suffering and gives animals the best chance at a happy and healthy life. It is important that we are present in our community, promoting the welfare of animals and the health of communities,” said Roxanne Bredenkamp from the SPCA’s management committee.

“It teaches people how to accept and fulfil their responsibilities to not only give companion to animals but also in all forms of life.”

The SPCA appealed for donations to ensure it continues its work.

With support, the SPCA can make a difference by:

• Educating the community on responsible animal care; instilling respect and appreciation for all animals.
• Informing people about cruelty to animals and requesting their support in reporting cruelty.
• Providing primary veterinary services such as vaccinations, treatment for ticks and fleas, and deworming.
• Educating pet owners on the importance of sterilisation.
• Proactively inspect the condition of animals and where they are homed.
• Providing food and blankets to pet owners who cannot afford to do so.
• Enforcing the Animals Protection Act when deliberate cruelty takes place.

“It is a huge task, and we cannot do this alone,” said Roxanne.
