Village Toastmasters say farewell to 2020

Each member was asked to give a two-minute speech pretending to be a famous person.

Village Toastmasters Club hosted its last meeting of the year in style.

Held on December 1 at Trinity Presbyterian Church, the meeting saw speeches, fancy dress from guests and members alike.

Each member was asked to give a two-minute speech pretending to be a famous person.

The winner did a rendition of Bugs Bunny.

Not only was there an award for the impromptu speaker, which went to the club’s president, Jonathan Silverberg, but an award for the best-dressed male, Thobani Mntambo, and the best-dressed female was awarded to the club’s newest member, Hendrietta Maphiri.

As part of general motivation, each month there are awards for the best-prepared speaker, best table topic speaker and best evaluator.

The winners are voted for by those present at the meeting.

Besides learning new things about one another, those who attended also learned how to present a speech with supreme confidence.
