Covid-19 takes its toll on Casual Day

This year the Edenvale-based NCPD is collaborating with Disney Africa’s Mickey and Friends Stay True 2020 campaign.

The National Council of and for Persons with Disabilities (NCPD) reminded residents that Casual Day will be held on December 3.

The date of the fund-raising and awareness day was changed because of Covid-19.

This year the Edenvale-based NCPD is collaborating with Disney Africa’s Mickey and Friends Stay True 2020 campaign.

The theme will be Side by Side for Equality. To participate, community members are invited to pair their fun outfits with family at home, their bestie, their co-workers, partners.

“Persons with disabilities are the hardest hit by the crippling economic and health ramifications of the pandemic,” said Therina Wentzel-du Toit, national director of the NCPD.

“We are seeing NGOs nationwide struggle to keep their doors open to support the most vulnerable in society.

“For those reasons, we realised the need to plan this year’s Casual Day carefully and to take fast innovative action.

“We are thrilled to be lending our support to Casual Day 2020. Mickey and his Friends embody the hallmarks of true friendship and standing side by side each other,” said Luke Roberts, GM for consumer products, games and publishing for the Walt Disney Company Africa.

“This year we are also excited about working with our retail partners across the country to amplify and support this worthy cause.”
