The NEWS reported earlier that Emer-G-Med sent out a social media post last night that two people had died from injuries in the crash.
Reports were that a third person later died in hospital.
The service declined to provide further details.
“As this is an active SAPS investigation, Emer-G-Med will not be able to disclose any details of the event that took place,” said Ernie McCarthy, Emer-G-Med emergency operations centre manager. Ntladi said the crash was reported at about 11pm and two people died on scene.
“It can be confirmed that three patients, two men and a woman, were found inside a single vehicle that was involved in a crash,” said Ntladi, who confirmed one person died on the scene and a second died soon afterwards.
He said a third patient in a critical condition was airlifted to hospital. Ntladi was unable to confirm a third death.
