Funds raised by the Breakfast Club Golfing Society and Greg Seagull from Regional SPAR saw much-needed donations delivered to Edenvale SPCA.

The donation, which, according to inspector Jade Nel, included a bit of everything, was made on October 16.

“We have received literally a little bit of everything; adult dog and cat dry pellets, kitten and puppy pellets and tinned food, fresh vegetables and fruit, pellets and mixed fowl food for the farmyard, as well as cat litter.”

Nel said Edenvale SPCA is blessed to have Mark and his daughter, Nicole O’Hare, always choose the branch as their beneficiary for their annual golfing fund-raiser.

“With the funds raised at their events, they choose to donate to the Edenvale SPCA,” said Nel.

“They always call beforehand to ask us what we want or need for our animal.

“Early this year, Nicole called to ask what we need and we asked if it would be possible to hang onto the money for now as we were blessed with the public’s support and our food rooms were full.”

Nel said when lockdown occurred the SPCA staff were stressed but the public and companies came to their rescue and the donations flowed in.

“This allowed us to continue looking after our animals and help community members in need.

“Up until now, we have not needed to ask for food, but in month seven of lockdown, we have noticed a drop in donations and our food supplies were running on low.

“We knew we had this back-up and we knew now was the right time to call on Uncle Mark and Nicole for help.”

Nel said Mark and Greg are amazing friends to all of them at the SPCA.

“We cannot thank you all enough for your amazing continued support and always looking after us and our animals.”
