RAG launches mobile panic button

The new mobile panic button will help to improve community safety.

Residents Action Group (RAG) has launched a new mobile panic button to improve community safety.

“We are committed to using the latest technology to keep our community safe,” RAG chairperson Marina Constas said.

She explained that the SafeNet panic button is ideal for people on the move, including walkers, runners and cyclists.

“This brand new offering, which RAG is proud to offer our community, is for anyone who needs protection on the go, from outdoor enthusiasts to outgoing teenagers and sociable senior citizens,” she said.

“The panic button, with the easy-to-use app, provides unmatched tracking, response and assistance when you need it most, not just in our area, but around the country. It is connected to a growing, nationwide network of emergency and medical responders called the Aura Network that RAG is part of,” Constas said.

“Depending on the type of emergency, a simple press of the SafeNet panic button will activate a response. The user does not have to search for an app or enter a password. The SafeNet panic button’s specialised battery is guaranteed for two years and uses radio frequency transmission in the event of limited cellphone reception or theft.”

While the SafeNet panic button can be used alone to get help swiftly, the SafeNet app enables additional features for the user.

“The app allows you to add multiple members to your ‘protective net’ and assists in keeping an eye out for you and your loved ones. In addition, the app allows you to determine the location of those you have added to your ‘follow others’ circle,” said RAG general manager Mark Morris.

“Should members in your circle activate their SafeNet panic button or panic app, you will immediately receive a notification and you will be able to monitor the incident directly from your phone. You will be able to see where our response and medical teams are in relation to your loved one.

“Should your loved one’s phone be stolen, RAG and the SafeNet response network will be able to track them from their last GPS location. Everything is easily monitored and managed from your phone.

“Everyone who wants to feel safe and secure when away from their home needs this panic button.

“A traditional response team would first have to phone to determine your location, whereas the Aura response network provides automated location information directly to the control centre with the first signal received from your device.”
