Ndaba heads up visible policing

Lt-Col Sinothi Emmanuel Ndaba might be new at the Bedfordview Police Station, but he’s an old hand at policing.

Lt-Col Sinothi Emmanuel Ndaba might be new at the Bedfordview Police Station, but he’s an old hand at policing.

He has been a dedicated police officer for the last 27 years and on July 1 he took over the reins at Bedfordview SAPS as the head of visible policing.

In 1993, after he completed his training, Ndaba was stationed at Jeppe Police Station.

“I was then moved to the old Boulders Police Station in Midrand for some time. The SAPS then decided to open Rabie Ridge Police Station and I was the first officer to be stationed there.

“When the SAPS decided to open Ivory Park Police Station, I was asked to head it up before I was moved the Kempton Park Police Station,” Ndaba said.

He was then selected to be the station commander for the Sebenza Police Station before receiving an order to transfer back to Kempton Park.

“I want to make partnership policing a priority for the area. Through partnership policing the community, businesses, security officers and the SAPS join forces to tackle crime.

“I want everyone to be part of policing in the area and I want residents to be able to trust us as the SAPS enough to give us information of possible criminal activities.

“I want to see the performance of Bedfordview Police Station in provincial and national rankings increase to be a five-star station. This can only be achieved if everyone joins hands and is involved in reporting and stopping crime.

“I want to see that people are not only feeling safe but that they are safe. I want to build trust with the community,” Ndaba said.

He describes himself as an open person who enjoys challenges.

“I have an open-door policy for members and the community, my office is always open,” he said.

“I believe all police officers should be enthusiastic, empathetic and disciplined. As police officers, we need to know how to behave as individuals and we need to have discipline when using the resources entrusted to us by the state,” Ndaba said.

He looks forward to getting to know Bedfordview and its residents.

Ndaba may be contact on 082 461 3629.
