Covid-19: South Africa records 88.7 per cent recovery rate

Gauteng remains the hot spot with 33,3 per cent of cases.

South Africa’s Covid-19 statistics, dated September 9 and released by the Department of Health, shows an 88.7 per cent (569 935) recovery rate.

A further 82 Covid-19 related deaths were reported bringing the total number of deaths to 15 168.

An additional 21 736 tests were conducted bringing the total number of tests to 3 842 898. 1 990 new cases were reported bringing the cumulative total to 642 431.

Gauteng remains the hot spot with 33,3 per cent of cases.

The province has 20 894 active cases. Gauteng reported 188 987 recoveries followed by Kwazulu-Natal with 103 437 recoveries.
