Hospice East Rand appealed to the greater community for financial assistance to cover the costs of testing staff members for Covid-19.
Jonquil Siepman, marketing and media liaison of Hospice East Rand, said when budgeting, the organisation never anticipated the need for all the additional PPE or the Covid-19 test fees.

“With our sisters being so hands on with our patients, they can’t wait for two weeks to get results through government clinics.
“Meaning, we need to utilise private facilities to get quicker results, and a test costs R850 each time.”
She said the test and additional PPE costs have made things difficult.
“We are hoping that by reaching out to our community, local businesses or individuals may be able to sponsor this testing for our sisters.”
