Marietta takes the reins

Marietta Lombard, editor of Bedfordview and Edenvale News, has also taken the reins as editor of Kempton Express and Germiston City News.

Lombard, former editor of The Thembisan and Joburg East Express, has served in her role as Caxton editor since 2006.

“I am eager to get to know the residents and community stakeholders of both areas.

“As a resident of Germiston, I understand this community’s challenges and hopes and have an integral knowledge of the area.

“I honed my skills as journalist from the Kempton Express newsroom many years ago while still a cub journo, and I cannot wait to delve back into this community’s news and meeting its residents,” said Lombard.

“I realise that as community journalists, we meet our readers and residents on the best, and often the worst, days of their lives.

“Our journalists know the privilege we have of telling our readers’ stories. For us, it is not a job. It is a privilege. The Bedfordview and Edenvale News, Germiston City News and Kempton Express will strive to tell our readers’ stories through fair, balanced and objective reportage,” said Lombard.

Lombard is an industry representative as Gauteng director for the Forum of Community Journalists (FCJ) and serves on the Press Council of South Africa.
