Update: Bedfordview SAPS gains new boardroom on Mandela Day

The venue will be known as the Mandela Boardroom and will be used by the SAPS and BCPF.

Bedfordview Community Police Forum (BCPF), together with members of SAPS and donors, launched the much-needed boardroom facility at the Bedfordview Police Station on July 18.

Alison Grobbelaar, the BCPF’s PRO said the project kicked off on July 7 and was completed on Mandela Day.

The venue will be known as the Mandela Boardroom and will be used by the SAPS and BCPF.

She said the initiative received support from Col Justus Geustyn, station commander of Bedfordview SAPS.

“Achieving the success we did with this project would not have been possible without those who contributed towards the success and the generosity of sponsors from our community,” said Grobbelaar.

She said finishing touches are still required and the forum called on the the community to assist with the furnishing and equipping of the facility.

Items still required include table and chairs, computer, audio visual equipment, television, flip chart, white board, microwave, fridge and consumables.

Donors included:

  • Bestfence – New front fence for the station.
  • Jurgens Bekker Attorneys – Shade nets for the vehicle ports, labour and materials for the board room, board room furniture, a braai donated for the boardroom, bottled water for the launch function, branded masks, pens and lanyards.
  • Big Dog Ceilings and Partitioning – Ceilings and partitioning.
  • Khubenker – Electric cabling, wiring, lights and fittings and labour.
  • Union Tiles – Tiles, adhesive and materials.
  • Tamasa Contractors – Building materials, in addition to taking on the role of builder and project manager, delivering the project successfully and on time.
  • RAG Bedfordview – Alarm system, Rhino 81, including mobile app together with ongoing monthly monitoring and site clean-up.
  • Tile, Marble and Tiling – Roof tiling and waterproofing.
  • Build It Bedfordview – Paint.
  • Hyper Paint – Paint.
  • WK Engineering – Cash donation for front door and locks.
  • Bedfordview Spar – Food and beverages for the launch function.
  • KAT Whiskers Bakery – Food for launch function.
