Flying Squad arrests four in Bedfordview

Four suspects in a white Isuzu KB bakkie were stopped on the R24 near Eastgate Shopping Centre.

Members of the Benoni Flying Squad arrested a total of nine people over the weekend including four in Bedfordview.

The Bedfordview arrest was the result of information handed to the SAPS.

Four suspects in a white Isuzu KB bakkie were stopped on the R24 near Eastgate Shopping Centre.

Officers found the vehicle was hijacked in Vosman and a Lurcin pistol was recovered at the scene.

The weapon’s serial numbers had been filed off.

The four were arrested, the firearm confiscated and the vehicle impounded.

Other successes for the team included the arrest of four people in Tembisa and Benoni for contravening the National Disaster Management Act.

Cigarettes and liquor were confiscated.

In Bar Street, Rabie Ridge one suspect was found with Nyaope (heroine).

He was arrested and the drugs confiscated.

In further policing three abandoned stolen vehicles were recovered.

These included a white Toyota Tazz at a tavern in Putfontein, a yellow Isuzu KB at Mocke Street, Daveyton and a white Scania truck at Rynsoord in Benoni linked to a Kempton Park case.

All those arrested will be appearing in the local Magistrates Courts soon.
