Give generously to Little Eden this Mandela Month

The society is an NPO which cares for 300 children and adults with intellectual disabilities.

Spend time helping local organisations as the Month of Giving is here and Little Eden Society in Edenglen shared their wish list for Mandela Day on July 18.

Nicolette Muthige, the communications officer for the NPO, said their list includes 160 duvets and duvet covers for single beds.

“Ninety covers will go to Domitilla and Danny Hyams Home in Edenvale, preferably in neutral colours and tones.

“Seventy covers will go to Elvira Rota Village in Bapsfontein and they can be neutral or with bright designs or pictures.”

Nicolette said community members can also donate clothing items to the home’s charity shop which will either be used in the home and some will be sold.

Another way to participate is to give 67 Mandela Day minutes to collect clothing for Little Eden.

“Community members, including learners from local schools, are encouraged to do a clothing drive for the home.

“The society will issue community service letters for time spent doing this,” said Nicollette.

She also appealed to companies for financial contributions which will assist in combating the financial impact of Covid-19 pandemic on the society.

Since the home will still be closed to the public due to lockdown regulations and to try and limit the possibility of infections, Nicollette said they plan to record a virtual tour of the facility video which will be loaded on our YouTube channel and other social media platforms and website asking for assistance with the above.
