The power of purpose

One of the most influential books of this decade, Bill George’s True North (Finding your Authentic Leadership), proposes that the key to finding fulfilment lies in finding your True North. Your True North is your orienting point in a rapidly changing world. It is derived from your most deeply held beliefs, values, and the principles you live by – and lead by. It is your internal compass.

The world we live in is transforming rapidly. Around the world, both the business and political environments are in a state of disruption. Companies, academics, and global executives have realised that there is a new leading-edge: Purpose. Individuals, entrepreneurs, and companies who are able to harness a clear sense of purpose will be far more effective in their ability to grow, innovate, and achieve their goals (Harvard Business Review: The Business Case for Purpose, 2015). Our world is crying out for principled leaders: men and women of integrity.

The Kings’ School has its origins in 1986 when Rigby Wallace, an elder of Waverly New Covenant Church, felt a calling to start a multi-racial school that offered Christ-centred education. Our devotional beliefs, based on Christian values (ethics and morals), guide our sense of integrity and religious approach. The community surrounding the school is characterised by a high degree of diversity. This has contributed to a rich cultural mix within the school.

Our history helps us offer our learners the opportunity to develop social skills which will prove vital in their future and is a key component of 21st-century skills.

Curro Holdings acquired us in January 2020, as one of their Select schools. We offer education from nursery school to Grade 12. With small class sizes, our enriched curriculum provides learners with a well-rounded education and prepares them for the IEB examination at the end of Grade 12.

Our vision: ‘To provide a Christ-centred environment that enables every child to access their full potential’. We believe Jesus is the one who put the potential inside our children, so there is no one better to release it.
