Hillside Methodist community gives without limits

Due to limited economic activity during the lockdown, many people were left with no means to provide for their families.

The notion of giving without boundaries has been displayed by the community of Modderfontein, Edenvale and Greenstone through the Ward 32 Food Drive recently.

Ward 32 Clr Bongani Nkomo sent out a call for donations during level 5 of lockdown and the community responded in a supportive and exemplary way.
Edenvale’s Hillside Methodist Church also joined the effort to provide food parcels.

Kimbal Mare, project assistant of the Ward 32 Food Drive, Aurelie Kalenga from Radio 702, Ward 32 Clr Bongani Nkomo before delivering food parcels to those in need.

Reverend Brian Hutton said he celebrates the church community’s willingness to serve others in this way.
The food parcels from the church were handed over to Aurelie Kalenga from Radio 702.

She received the parcels on behalf of Congolese refugees.

“It was deeply touching that our church donations were able to assist refugees from another church.

“That is true selfless giving during these incredibly difficult times,” said project assistant Kimbal Mare. Nkomo thanked all community members who donated towards the food drive.
