Restrictions eased at Little Eden for lockdown Level 3

Little Eden's communications officer Nicollette Muthige said the society adjusted precautionary measures according to the suitability of the vulnerable people in their care.

Lockdown Level 3 has brought a small amount of relief for homes like Little Eden Society in Edenglen.

On June 1, the home explained it’s new Covid-19 precautionary measures for their society.

Little Eden’s communications officer Nicollette Muthige said the society adjusted precautionary measures according to the suitability of the vulnerable people in their care.

“We will continue to monitor the situation closely and as the country prepares to move to Level 3 from June 1. The society adjusted and they are maintaining some of the following measures for Level 3:

Visitors at the homes

The Homes remain closed to the public for on-site visits.

This includes family members of our residents who are probably the most severely affected by this regulation as they have not been able to visit their loved ones at the home for some time.

“This is one of the most difficult decisions the society had to take for the benefit and safety of its residents,” added Muthige.

Volunteer and community service programmes are still on hold for the time being as well.

Donation drop-offs

Due to the urgent need of donations, from June 1, the society will be open to donation drop-offs.

“Donors will still not be allowed onto the premises, but hygienic measures and processes will be in place to receive the goods.”

“This will also include resuming the collection of donations from donors,” said the communications officer.

Charity Shop

The Little Eden Charity Shop will reopen on June 8.

Necessary hygienic practices and procedures such as sanitising and screening of staff and customers will be in place.

The public will also be able to drop off their valuable donations at the shop.

Little Eden sent their gratitude to the public for their continued support and contribution towards the well-being of the residents even during the difficult times affecting everyone.

Muthige said as a token of thanks the residents and staff prepared a Covid-19 song adapted from Paul McCartney’s We all stand together.

“Community members can visit the Little Eden crowdfunding page on the Givengain platform to watch and listen to the song and please share with your family and friends.

“To make a contribution towards the Home or for more information about the preventative measures in place, contact Nichollette Muthige on info@littleeden.org.za or the office on 011 609 7246.
