Covid-19 mortality rate in South Africa remains at 2.1 per cent

South Africa has recorded 88 new coronavirus fatalities to push the death toll to 1 568.

The Eastern Cape has recorded a total of 10 597 coronavirus cases as well as 5 331 recoveries.

The total number of cases in Kwa-Zulu Natal stands at 3 959 and recoveries for the province stands at 1 810.

The total number of tests conducted stands at 1 148 933.

Of these 26 975 tests were conducted in the 24 hours between June 14 and June 15.

The private sector has conducted 12 172 new tests to bring the total number of tests conducted to 556 364.

The public sector has conducted a total of 592 569 tests, 14 803 of which are new.
