Covid-19: Gautrain operating hours extended during level three

Gautrain Management Agency (GMA) and Bombela Concession Company announced that Gautrain will expand its operations under the level three regulations.
GMA’s communication and marketing manager, Dr Barbara Jensen, the operating hours for the train service have been extended and trains operate daily between 5.30am and 8.30pm.

“The end stations are Hatfield and Park stations on the north/south line and Sandton and Rhodesfield stations on the east/west line.”

Jansen explained on weekdays, trains will operate at 15-minute intervals during the peak period and at 30-minute intervals during the off-peak period.

“The peak periods will be between 6am to 9am and 2.30pm to 6pm. The off-peak periods will be between 9am to 2.30pm and 6pm to 8.30pm.”

“During the weekend and public holidays, trains will operate at 30-minute intervals and the airport service remains suspended until further notice,” said Jansen.
As of June 1, all Gautrain bus routes have been operating.

“We will continue to operate all midi-bus routes. Please note, there will be no bus or midi-bus service over weekends and public holidays until further notice.”

Jansen added some bus routes have been temporarily amended to service selected hospitals.

“For a limited period and until further notice, all rail-users may park for free for the first 24 hours only. Thereafter standard parking fares will apply.”

Regarding the health and safety of passengers and staff, Jansen explained how this is still important to GMA.

“We will continue to take the greatest care to ensure health and safety measures at Gautrain are not compromised. The use of masks remains mandatory and all passengers and staff must wear a mask while at stations and onboard trains, buses or midi-buses.”
