Braai fun at Thembalami Care Centre

Elize added that chairs and tables were set up outside and music was played.

The smell of a braai, along with winter sunshine, lifted the spirits of residents and staff at Rand Aid’s Thembalami Care Centre recently.

“Some of the residents mentioned they were in the mood for ‘pap and vleis’ so we decided to have a braai,” said Elize Raath, liaison officer of Thembalami.

She said there was no particular special occasion, the centre wanted to arrange moments of fun to lighten the mood during the national lockdown.

Elize added that chairs and tables were set up outside and music was played.

She said all staff were involved in organising the braai as some cooked, some braaied, and others helped serve and cleaned up.

Fresh spinach was picked from the Thembalami food garden and cream spinach was also prepared.

“It was a great team effort and enough was prepared to include the staff and thank them for their hard work,” said Elize.
