Covid-19 cases pass the 29 000 mark

1 837 new cases reported since yesterday.

The Covid-19 cases in South Africa have reached 29 240.

This is a jump of 1 837 new cases reported since yesterday.

The highest number of new cases (1 152) were reported in the Western Cape.

This brings the Western Cape’s total number of cases to 18 906, accounting for 64.7 per cent of the national total.

The national death toll has reached 611, with 34 more deaths reported.

Of the 611, 322 were male and 289 female.

The highest number of deaths has occurred in people between the ages of 60 to 69 years.

Once again it is the Western Cape that leads the numbers with 437 deaths.

In the Eastern Cape 80 people have died of the virus, in KwaZulu-Natal 50 have died and in Gauteng 31 have died.

Mpumalanga is the only province with no recorded deaths.
