“While we continue to look forward to an incredible test series and tour against the British and Irish Lions in 2021, and there are no planned changes, it would be remiss of us not to explore various scenarios for a possible date change caused by the Covid-19 pandemic,” SA Rugby president Mark Alexander told SARugbymag.co.za.

It is anticipated that the tour will see over 300 000 seats filled by fans watching the matches across various venues around the country.

The Lions 2021 tour is scheduled to kick off in Cape Town on July 3, 2021 when the best players from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales will take on the Stormers.

The final match will be the third test and will see the Springboks take on the visitors in Johannesburg on August 7.
