Little Eden residents are safe

“We are blessed to have such dedicated carers, many of whom have been apart from their own families and loved ones in order to care of our 'angels'."

Three weeks into lockdown and Little Eden has reported that everyone at the organisation is safe.

According to Little Eden CEO Xelda Rohrbeck residents are spending their time in the open air, with various activities to keep them active and happy.

“Mass is live streamed for the residents in the meeting area outside the office. All the staff are well and in good spirits,” she said.

Rohrbeck added that staff at the ERV have been in lockdown with the residents since March 26.

“We are blessed to have such dedicated carers, many of whom have been apart from their own families and loved ones in order to care for our ‘angels’. Thank you to all our staff; it is through your support, understanding and dedication that we are able continue to provide the care and love our residents deserve and rely on.”

With the extended lockdown period, staff will now return home to also spend time with their families, and begin travelling to and from work daily again.

All staff have been issued with masks, hand sanitiser and gloves to protect them whilst travelling.

“We extend our thanks and appreciation to the parents and next of kin who are understandably anxious about not being able to visit, but they understand this is in the best interest of all.

“Additional expenses to cover the preventative measures necessary to deal with the pandemic continue to mount up.”

She said certain medications usually supplied by the Department of Health are not in stock, and the organisation has had to source, and pay for these.

“We also urgently need a thermal thermometer as part of our risk mitigation and management plan.”
