This week’s lockdown tour through the streets of Bedfordview and Edenvale is a harsh reminder of the economic challenges faced by businesses and parents’ concerns about their children’s education.

Closed shops on Van Buuren Road with “Sorry, we are closed” signs speak of uncertain futures for these small businesses.
Empty school grounds are representative of parents’ concerns about the 2020 school year and their children’s education.
Majority of the schools in Edenvale and Bedfordview have been proactive with the introduction of remote online learning.

Bedfordview and Edenvale communities have also continued with their giving nature as both areas’ communities launched projects to collect food hampers for those in need and also with the production of masks.
Police presence on the roads were high this week as it would seem officers are out to ensure lockdown regulations are adhered to.
Editor Marietta Lombard was also stopped by officers from Bedfordview SAPS who made sure she produced the relevant permits and carried relevant press cards.

Traffic on Gillooly’s Interchange included transport vehicles and several vehicles involved in maintenance work were spotted on the roads this week.
Edenvale had little road and foot traffic with the CBD and areas like Eastleight Taxi Rank eerily quiet.
