Suspected Croydon robber arrested

The suspect matches the description of a man who has been robbing people for the past eight months in Croydon.

A suspect believed to be responsible for several robberies in Croydon was arrested on April 4.

Sgt Sharon Tsotsotso, the communications officers of Sebenza SAPS, said the suspect matched the description of a man connected to robberies in Croydon for the past eight months.

“The man was arrested by Sebenza police officers in Cresslawn while he held up three victims at gunpoint. It is alleged the suspect came across the a man and two women, pointed a firearm and informed them they were being robbed.”

“The 23-year-old suspect fired one shot in the air and it was during that time that the police arrived.

The officers were on routine patrol when they came across the scene, and immediately arrested the suspect.”

Tsotsotso said the firearm used by the suspect was recovered.

“Further investigations revealed that the firearm used by him was taken during a business robbery in Meyerton.”
