DEMS appoints regional managers

Two members of Ekurhuleni’s Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS) were promoted to management positions to administer the Northern and Eastern operational regions.
With 25 years experience behind them Mannetjie Johannes Riet and Mamowelase Agnes Makwane’s hard work paid off after moving through the ranks and becoming regional managers.
Head of the department Sam Sibande congratulated the two members and looks forward to the success they will bring.
“We believe that your abilities will help upgrade community service delivery to greater heights and to grow it bigger than what it is now.”
Divisional head of emergency services Mhlengi Makhubalo said it was a great honour to have the pair in the division.
“All of us are very excited to work with you in your new endeavour,” said Makhubalo.
The pair were promoted from senior district manager positions to regional manager positions on March 1.
Each will manage 10 fire stations in each region.
DEMS spokesperson William Ntladi explained that the positions were vacant as a result of resignations.
“Different managers were acting in the two vacant positions until the end of February.”
