Imaan (14) and Aaliyah (12) Cassim from Kensington are huge sports fanatics and enjoy fencing.
“The sport requires a lot of concentration and speed. It was amazing to watch and that is when I also wanted to be part of it,” said Aaliyah.
They joined the Ivana Kids Sports and Fencing Activities (IKSAFA) club to pursue the sports, and everything has been going well for them.
“We have been performing very well in the Gauteng competitions in 2019. We fenced in mixed categories u-15 and u-17 to receive a bronze and gold medal,” said Imaan.
“Our first competition for 2020 was held at University of Pretoria. Aaliyah won a gold medal and I won a silver and bronze,” said Imaan.
